Niagara Spring Wedding Show 2012

Having attended several wedding shows we’re starting to feel like old pros! We took a different approach with our booth display and even though we are very proud and confident in our work we still find ourselves with that nervous feeling in the pit of our stomachs as they announce that the doors are officially open wondering “will they like it?” It never takes long before that feeling dissipates as a result of the always overwhelming compliments from the brides-to-be and even occasionally from the grooms-to-be who find themselves allowed to express their opinions!

One of the best moments at the show was when a bride-to-be inquired about the pricing of our boarding pass wedding invitations. When we explained what the cost for that particular invitation was, she loudly exclaimed “SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!” One of the things we pride ourselves in is our ability to provide very reasonable and competitive pricing so we just had to know whether her shocked reaction was good or bad; turns out it was good!

Deciding that I (Sarah) now needed try out what I had deemed as ‘my new favourite expression’ I went home and emphatically said it to my husband when he asked how the show went. Needless to say, he stared at me blankly and then asked if I was feeling alright. Perhaps I should have tried it on my son J

With several appointments already booked at the show, we couldn’t be more excited to meet with and get to know all the newly engaged couples.

Wedding Invitations - Recent Work

Last week we spent the day attempting our first amateur photo shoot to capture shots of our most recent work and here are the results. Although our lighting could use some work, we managed not fall off the chairs we were hovering on, we didn't break anything or spill our Baileys/coffee on any of the invitations. All in all, we would call it a success.....at least we think so!

It’s time to grab your fiancé, bridal party, or mother along with a very large bag (we’ve even seen brides with small suitcases on wheels!) and some comfortable, yet stylish shoes and head out to the 2012 Niagara Spring Wedding Show! For anyone who is planning a wedding, this two-day show is the place to be. On January 14^th & 15^th at the Holiday Inn & Suites Parkway Convention Centre on Ontario Street in St. Catharines you will have the opportunity to explore a variety of top wedding vendors.

We are excited to be showcasing our custom wedding invitations and stationery at booth #65 so be sure to stop by and check us out! Be prepared to carry a ton of vendor handouts and don’t forget to bring stickers or labels with your personal contact information. You will thank us for that tip later! Lastly, don’t forget to bring a canned good in support of Community Care!

Since then we’ve had the opportunity to work with some great new clients and come up with some creative new designs. Savvy Sendables at the 2011 Niagara Autumn Wedding Show

This past Sunday we had a great time as vendors at the 8^th Annual Niagara Autumn Wedding Show at the Holiday Inn in St. Catharines. This was our second time attending the show and we couldn’t have had more fun! Last year we were both pregnant at the show (one of us more than the other!) which left us needing some help lugging in our display. This year everything seemed to flow seamlessly from set up to tear down. Being our first time in attendance we were so eager to showcase all of our pieces last year that we went a little crazy showing absolutely EVERYTHING on our table! This year we took the approach that ‘less is more’ with our display and showcased two of our favourites. We’ve always believed that not only does your invitation set the tone for your wedding but it also is the stepping stone to tying in the overall theme. With that in mind our good friend Tawnya from In the Mix made us the most adorable cakes to match our invites and Jannine from Fresh provided us with a beautiful bouquet to also accent our pieces. The chilly rainy weather definitely helped the flow of traffic at the show again this year. We again had the pleasure of talking to many brides, some accompanied by their fiancé, others with their mother or entourage of friends. Hearing the excitement in the voice of a bride planning her wedding never gets old! A bride allowing us to partake in that excitement by helping with one element of their day is always an honour. To all that we spoke to, it was great getting to know you and we look forward to working with you!

Even though the day came to an end very quickly we were once again left with an overwhelming amount of compliments for our work which means the world to us! Just before it drew to a close, with a little encouragement from the guys across the hall, we wandered over to have some fun in the Rockstar Photobooth. Having known Amanda since high school we were lucky enough to be able to sneak into the hall the day of the wedding to get some candid shots of our products on location.

It’s one thing to hand over the final product but it's another thing to be able to see them on display and know that we have contributed to a couple’s special day. Our pieces were further enhanced by the stunning hall décor that featured blue accent lighting, creative centrepieces, gorgeous chair covers, jewelled napkin holders, and more! Seeing it all together really affords you the opportunity to understand how each piece ties together the overall theme and style of the wedding. Kudos to the staff at John Michael's Banquet and Conferece Centre as well as Style with Sarina, they did an amazing job!

Congrats again to Amanda & Mike! We are so happy for you and wish you a lifetime of love and happiness together!!

Savvy Sendables is excited to once again be attending the 8th Annual Niagara Autumn Wedding Show which is right around the corner! It takes place on Sunday October 2nd from 12 pm to 5 pm at the Holiday Inn & Suites Parkway in St. Catharines.

We went to high school with Amanda and were lucky enough to have her visit our booth at the 2010 Fall Bridal Show. We got together with Amanda and her fiance, Mike, shortly thereafter to discuss design ideas, colour, layout, etc. and catch up on the last 10 years. You know you're old when you can start referring to things in decades! From a few meetings came these amazing pieces of stationery which consist of the wedding invitation, response card, double sided table number and menu along with a unique invitation for the reception only. The signature cobalt blue (which was inspired by a peacock feather!) added a punch of colour to the metallic black pocket which was finished with a graphic and jewel embellishments. We're so excited that they loved each piece when they were delivered. The seating chart will soon be finalized with pictures to follow. 5x7 Panel Invitation with Orchid Graphic

Melinda and Ramon were a great couple to work with right from the start! Detail was paramount for these two and it all started with a tiny piece of blue wrapping paper that we were lucky enough to match almost exactly. The orchid graphic is reminiscent of the first flower Ramon gave to Melinda so it was important to us to use just the right one. In the end we couldn't be more pleased with how classy and striking their invitation turned out and are glad they agree! All the best on your special day, Melinda and Ramon!

Introducing Baby Ben!

Instead of chocolate eggs, the Easter Bunny brought a beautiful baby boy for Savvy partner Sarah and her husband Josh. Benjamin Oliver was born Easter morning weighing a solid 9 lbs 6 oz and is doing great! (Although by the above photo you would never know this gorgeous lady had just given birth to a child that size...well done Mommy!) Congratulations to Sarah, Josh and big brother Jack, and a big welcome to our little "Easter Benny"!

This past Thursday Savvy partner Nikki and her husband Brennan welcomed their son William Denis into their family! Adorable little Willy joined big sisters Ryann and Lila a few days earlier than expected. Nikki's first two daughters were two weeks late and I was adamant that Willy would arrive early. Who knew I would be right?! At 2pm on October 21st Willy made a surprise entrance 3 days early weighing in at 9lbs 2oz!

I was able to drop by and meet Willy last night and am happy to report that everyone is doing well! Willy is such a good baby and is part of a very loving family.

Congratulations to Nikki, Brennan, RyRy and Lila on the safe arrival of baby William!

Savvy Sendables at the Niagara Autumn Wedding Show

This past weekend we attended the Niagara Autumn Wedding Show for the first time! Excitement was just one of the many emotions we experienced as first time vendors. With Nikki ready to deliver her third child in less than three weeks I was positive I would be attending solo but thankfully that wasn’t the case!

Throughout the day we had the pleasure of meeting many brides (and the occasional groom who would look up from the large bag of bridal propaganda he was responsible for carrying!), each of whom provided us with brief insights into their soon-to-be special day. It was a pleasure to speak with each and every one of you and we welcome the opportunity to work with you.

The winner of our draw for free thank you cards will be announced in the coming days. Stay tuned!

A special thank you to the show organizers who always answered our questions (and there were a lot of them!) with patience and professionalism as we learned along the way.

By the end of the day we had received an overwhelming amount of compliments and positive feedback about our work and can’t express how much that truly means. It was a great experience and we look forward to attending next year!
